Position: Assistant Head of Quest and Specialized Services (Full-Time)

Reports to: Head of Quest and Specialized Services

Position Purpose: The Assistant Head of Specialized Services is a multifaceted, student-centered role designed to manage the operational life cycle of student support at Dwight Global. This position acts as the central hub for student accommodations, internal and external standardized testing logistics, and the management of the virtual Learning Resource Center (LRC), Content Tutoring program and Learning Support Plus program.

The Assistant Head ensures compliance, facilitates critical communications between families and academic teams, and empowers faculty with the tools and strategies needed to personalize learning for every student.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accommodations Management & Compliance

  • Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the main liaison for students, parents, and Dwight personnel regarding academic and testing accommodations.
  • Documentation & Intake: Oversee the onboarding process for new students requiring support. Review medical notes, neuropsychological evaluations, 504 plans, and IEPs to determine appropriate academic or medical modifications.
  • Plan Creation: Author formal "School Accommodation Plans" for students who require accommodations but are not enrolled in the intensive Quest program.
  • Data Integrity: Maintain and audit the Student Accommodations Management System Software (MyDG Blackbaud). Work with the Registrar to ensure all plans are attached to student profiles and securely stored.
  • Dissemination: Proactively share accommodations and medical modifications with each student's support team (Administration, Deans, Teachers, and Learning Support).

2. Special Testing Coordination (Internal & External)

  • Standardized Testing Mastery: Maintain expert, up-to-date knowledge of state regulations and specific accommodation application processes for external testing bodies (College Board, ACT, and the International Baccalaureate [IB]).
  • External Applications: Counsel families through the external testing accommodations pipeline, ensuring the collection of Universal Consent Forms and the timely submission of evaluative materials.
  • School Deadlines & Calendar: Partner with the communications team to ensure critical special testing deadlines are updated annually on the school calendar and proactively pushed to parents.
  • Internal Exam Prep:
    • Collaborate with the Testing team to ensure accommodations are seamless for the PSAT, ACT, and AP tests.
    • Partner with the IB Coordinator to implement accommodations for IB Mock and official exams, communicating requirements clearly to proctors and classroom teachers.
    • On-Campus Testing Logistics: Facilitate and oversee physical ACT and SAT special testing sessions at the Dwight New York campus when required.

3. Learning Resource Center (LRC) & Content Tutoring Oversight

  • LRC Curation: Design, maintain, and update the virtual Learning Resource Center, utilizing standardized test data, psychoeducational evaluations, and feedback from students and faculty to curate self-access resources.
  • Tutoring Operations: Manage the Content Tutoring program, ensuring robust coverage across all academic content areas and international time zones based on student demand.
  • Coach & Mentor: 
    • Content Tutoring:
      • Support Content Tutors in establishing clear goals and objectives for each student session. 
      • Coach tutors on varied instructional pedagogies to tailor support to diverse learning styles.
    • Learning Support Plus: 
      • Demonstrates a wide range of instructional pedagogies and ability to coach LS+ teachers to tailor approach based on needs of each student based on a robust understanding of Executive Functioning strategies and supports.
      • Supports the LS+ teachers in establishing goals and objectives for each student.
  • Progress Tracking: Track student growth in content tutoring and Learning Support Plus. Oversees the documentation of the progress of each session in the Learning Support Sessions Log.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all Content Tutors accurately document session progress in the Learning Support Sessions Log.

4. Quality Assurance, Curriculum, & Faculty Support 

  • Implementation Audits: Run a monthly spot-checking and feedback system with teachers, students, and parents to guarantee that accommodations are actively and usefully implemented.
  • Curriculum Collaboration: Partner with C&I and HODs during curriculum review cycles to embed accommodations and modifications directly into course frameworks. Collect formal teacher sign-offs each trimester confirming modifications were executed.
  • Faculty Accountability: If classroom modifications are falling short, coordinate directly with HODs and C&I to provide targeted strategies, techniques, and professional support to the teacher.
  • Policy Updates: Work closely with the Head of Quest and Specialized Services to review and update the school's internal and external Special Testing and Accommodation handbooks/policies annually.
