Online IB Global Politics Teacher- Part Time
Position Overview
Dwight Global, the online program of Dwight School in New York, which was recently named the number 2 online high school in the United States by Newsweek magazine, is seeking an experienced and innovative IB DP Global Politics Teacher to design and teach virtual classes starting in June 2025. The successful candidate will be an experienced IB teacher with a successful track record. We look for candidates with integrity, excellence, intelligence, creativity, responsibility, optimism, and passion for developing IB learners.
Though this position is remote, and the teacher may be located anywhere, the teacher should be available to teach synchronous classes during 9 am-3 pm Eastern Time.
Responsibilities
- Intentionally construct and develop a virtual interactive classroom environment for students to grow in the DP curriculum.
- Guide students in subject-specific content and skill as conscientious members of the Dwight learning community
- Develop and foster student’s ATL skill progression throughout the program
- Form relationships with students in an effort to foster personal academic growth within each pupil
- Teach critical thinking and analysis, while delivering excellent DP Global Politics curriculum
- Collaborate closely with other Dwight IB colleagues concerning the development of the online DP program, student wellness and growth, and professional development to yield a positive and healthy school environment
- Adhere to the curricular requirements concerning source content and assessment of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (DP)
- Display a commitment to diversity and creating a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging in approach to teaching and learning, as they are recognized and valued by Dwight
- Support the IB Core through TOK course integration, enhance CAS extension, and mentor Extended Essays
Qualifications
- Finds joy in teaching and believes in supporting the IB philosophy in both pedagogy and classroom experience.
- Demonstrates pedagogical skill and appreciation for the IB; at least five (5) years of relevant, full-time high school History teaching experience
- Demonstrates competency in teaching students with varying skill levels
- Has excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Experience with thoughtful integration of technology into curricula
- Experience in the IB Diploma Program
- Preferred experience with online teaching and learning
- Preferred experience grading IB internal or external exams of subject-specific papers
- Experience teaching to a range of learners
- Eagerness to contribute positively to the Dwight community
- Willingness to engage with and learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Ability to bring joy, kindness, maturity, humor, hard work, and flexibility to the school environment
